The Rogosin Institute: Advancing Kidney Care, Innovation, and Access

Compassionate, high-quality kidney care for more than four decades. The Rogosin Institute is rooted in a legacy of innovation and patient-centered care. Its history traces back to physician expertise that helped shape kidney medicine in the greater New York metropolitan area, including the first hemodialysis treatment for kidney failure in 1957 and the first kidney transplant in the metropolitan area in 1963.

Today, Rogosin continues to deliver specialized kidney care at significant scale, serving more than 1,500 patients with end-stage renal disease across locations in Manhattan, Queens, Brooklyn, the Bronx, and Westchester, and providing over 200,000 dialysis treatments each year. Rogosin also operates one of the largest home dialysis programs in New York City, improving patients’ quality of life, independence, and long-term health. Rogosin consistently outperforms city, state and national quality metrics and end-stage renal disease benchmarks.

Rogosin’s nationally recognized clinical specialties, patient education programs, and research reflect its leadership in advancing kidney care. A leader in Polycystic Kidney Disease care, Rogosin is home to the largest and most innovative PKD Center of Excellence in the Northeast. A hallmark of Rogosin’s comprehensive approach is PEAK—the Program for Education of Patients with Advanced Kidney Disease—helping patients understand kidney health, explore treatment options early, maintain a kidney-safe diet, and manage disease over time. Its Immunogenetics and Transplantation Laboratory supports transplant programs and blood banks across the country with specialized testing, while NIH-funded research through its Kidney Regenerative Laboratory reflects Rogosin’s commitment to developing future treatments for kidney disease. Together, these efforts advance care, innovation, and access for patients today and for generations to come.
