The Rogosin Institute has long been a leader in advancing better treatments and modalities for dialysis, particularly home dialysis. We have one of the largest home dialysis programs and the largest peritoneal dialysis program in the metropolitan area. In our PEAK (Patient Education in Advanced Kidney Disease) program, 20% of patients begin home dialysis, compared to the national average of 10%. We are constantly looking to educate patients on the benefits of home dialysis and increase the number of people using it. We know home dialysis is a better option than in-center hemodialysis for patients who are candidates; it generally leads to greater flexibility, fewer medical complications, more control over patients’ health management, and improved health outcomes overall. As of today, we have over 200 patients using home dialysis!
Deeping our commitment to advancing home dialysis, last fall we opened the Rogosin Brooklyn Home Dialysis Training and Education Center, thanks to two very generous donors: Mrs. Gloria Kaylie and Mrs. Gabrielle Lurie, both of whom were touched by kidney disease. This center, the first of its kind in NYC, is uniquely designed to train both patients and staff in home dialysis modalities. It was built to meet a vital need: Brooklyn has some of the lowest rates of home dialysis in the country; however, thanks to this groundbreaking new center, many more patients now have the chance to learn more about their options and receive excellent comprehensive training.
We are proud to be a leader in kidney care and flexible dialysis options in New York and beyond – and we look forward to reaching even more patients in the months to come!
